On Monday we were very lucky to have the Waiuku College Kapa Haka group come and perform at school as part of Maori Language Week in New Zealand. It also tied in very well with our topic "Arts Alive".The children wrote recounts about the performance. This term we are learning to start sentences in different ways to make our writing more interesting.
At 9:30 we went to the hall for the Waiuku College Kapa Haka group. They sang songs and they did actions with long sticks and the pois. Two boys did the haka. The lady played music on the guitar. They were good. Nate.
This morning after handwriting we went to the assembly and we saw the girls and boys sing songs. First they sang a hymn. Then they sang Rona and the moon. The two boys did a haka. It was scary. I saw Nathen's sister Alisha. They did actions with long sticks and a pois. The show was excellent. Michelle
Today room 6 went to assembly. Some of the Waiuku College came. There were two boys and six girls. One was Nathen's sister. They did some songs and some actions that were excellent. They had pois and long sticks. One of them I know. At the end two boys came up and they were loud. It gave me a fright. Then we went back to class. Nicole
